Tour starts from the Gorno Konjsko village, which is reached by organised transport. The steep uphill indicates that you are climbing to a rather high altitude, initiating the thrill regarding the amazing view that the restaurant “Terasa Utarna” shall offer. It is located at an altitude of 1,100 metres, at a place known as “Utarna” among the villagers; hence the name of the restaurant. Indeed, it offers an exceptional view to Lake Ohrid and to Ohrid, a view never seen before. It was built with much love by the hospitable hosts, who will welcome you as they would in their own house. It significantly differs compared to the mass tourism offered few kilometres below. “Terasa utarna” perfectly matches the local setting.
The successful wood and stone combination, together with the decorations of retro- and ethno-motifs, is perfect. The beautiful interior, combined with the magnificent environment and serenity, offer enjoyment in almost all nature-related beauties. In addition, the offered food and beverages are home-made. You shall have the opportunity to taste many dishes of the home-made traditional Ohrid cuisine. Following the food and beverage tasting, we continue moving along the Galichica ridge.
The trail leads through the village Shipokno. The old and abandoned stone houses are particularly interesting in the spring period, when the village-abundant lilacs are blooming. The trail passes near amazing vineyards, and depending on the season of the year, there is an option for wild and other fruit tasting, which grow along the trail.
We shall have a short break in the courtyard of the newly-built church “Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary”, located in front of Velestovo village. The trail continues under Velestovo village, with continuous mild descent. The view is unique. The entire Ohrid region can be seen at one’s fingertips, and by approaching Ohrid, a glimpse of which can be seen through the roadside trees, all its landmarks can be observed. First of all, “St. John” at Kaneo, Plaoshnik, the Old Bazaar, with the predominant Samuel’s Fortress. Its impressiveness can be best observed precisely on this tour. Enchelanai was located right above the Orthodox Church “Saint Erasmus” on the way to the fortress, on the nearby hill known as Gabavski hill. Some also call it the Macedonian Mycenae because of the partially preserved Cyclopean walls.
