Popova Kula Winery is located south of Veliko Brdo (a hill near the town of Demir Kapija), and close to the highway E-75.
This location has always attracted interest due to its excellent climate and perfect soil for growing grapes. Acknowledging its importance and remaining faithful to the region, the winery was named Popova Kula after a tower which once served as an important checkpoint on the old Roman road that passed by the winery.
In honor of this construction and its significance, a new 17m high tower was built and named – Popova Kula. Nowadays, Popova Kula is an important destination for development of wine tourism due to the true dedication of producing high quality wine and promoting the Stanushina grape variety which is found only in this region.
